We typically advise candidates that board-ready leaders are at the VP level or above and have recent operating experience – typically within 2-3 years.
A recommendation is not a requirement to join tBL Plus; however, all candidates are required to have for-profit board experience or a recommendation from a for-profit board director to be eligible to appear in search results on theBoardlist.
It's very common for companies to offer reimbursement for professional development. Your company will benefit from the broader, more strategic view of running a business that you'll acquire as a board director, but it's also a matter of retention: board development is a fantastic way to support top executives' professional growth while retaining their best employees.
